Plan Your Camp Sunday -   Select a Sunday between now and April and plan a fun time to get people thinking about camp

Children, Youth, Young Adults and Families need to know about 2008 camping opportunities!

We need your help to spread the word at YOUR church...RIGHT NOW!

  • Worship Service Resources and bulletin insert for worship were mailed to your church or you can downloaded as well

  • Invite a guest speaker to preach and/or speak to the Sunday School, youth groups, after School program, etc. Have someone

  • who can explain about the camp ministry and the work going on at our sites. Contact campsites for speakers.

  • Use past campers, familes, junior staff, camper leaders (pastors, volunteers, staff) for worship leaders, song leaders, or for your camp Sunday Celebration and for short reminders throughout the spring.  Someone at church (pastor, family, camper, staff, junior staff, etc.) with a passion for camping can be SO effective (often more effective than a speaker from camp).  Someone who can not only be a part of a fun camp Sunday celebration, but who can continue to remind folks about camping opportunities thorughout the spring.   Not sure what you should share...check out the Worship and Sunday School help sheets!

  • Instead of singing the traditional hymns, try throwing in some camp songs for fun.

  • Gear up! You and your congregation can switch from your Sunday wardrobe to camping gear: T-shirts, sweat-shirts, hiking boots, jeans or shorts. You can even bring props like a backpack, tent, flashlight, or canteen.

  • Create a Camp Worship Center with rocks, sticks, leaves, plants, tent, branches, pinecones, shells or even a mick campfire. Don't end with just 1 day, pick a month and have short promotional each week.  Don't let families forget about camping opportunities!

If you have not yet scheduled a camp Sunday - there’s plenty of time to schedule a specialday to focus on the good news of our Iowa Camping Program!  Everyone needs to know that camp is a fun, effective and exciting way tohelp children, youth and families grow in faith!   The activities and opportunities campers experience at camp will stick with them for the rest of their lives!

  • The staff at Okoboji are here to help you!  We would love to help you plan your Camp Sunday celebration.   Just let us know!
